Crystal meth (often called “ice”) is a powerful and highly  stimulant PRODUCT . Its full name is crystal methamphetamine, a form of the synthetic chemical methamphetamine.

What it is

• A central nervous system stimulant that speeds up brain and body activity

• Usually appears as clear, shard-like crystals or bluish-white rocks (hence the name “ice”)

• Chemically related to amphetamines, but much stronger and longer-lasting

How it’s used

People typically:

• Smoke it (most common for “ice”)

• Inject it

• Snort it

• Swallow it

Effects

Short-term effects include:

• Intense euphoria (“rush”)

• Increased energy and alertness

• Reduced appetite

• Faster heart rate and breathing

But it also causes:

• Anxiety, paranoia, aggression

• Overheating and dangerous increases in heart rate

• Risky behavior and poor judgment
